Round Up and Important Information For New Scouts

This Tuesday, we had our round up, and had about 40 new scouts join Pack 101. That is terrific! There are several more who will join who couldn't make it Tuesday, but called to set up appointments with me to get registered.

People at the Round Up asked several good questions, and I will try to answer them as I remember them.

First: Do we need anything for your first meeting? The only thing you MUST have is your den's book. You can buy your den's book at Hooper's in Paducah, which is downtown on Broadway. They cost around $7.

Second: Do you have a uniform? Yes, and the uniform parts do not have to be purchased all at once. That can be expensive. Hooper's will have all the uniform parts, but you can also order them through JC Penny's, and even off of ebay. The uniform parts we use are as follows:

1. Hat for the appropriate den.
2. Shirt for the appropriate den. Tigers, Wolfs, and Bears (1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade) wear the blue shirt. Webelos 1 and 2 (4th and 5th grade)can choose instead to adopt the tan shirt of the boy scouts. If you are Webelos, please talk to your leader before you buy your shirt.
3. Patches for the shirt. You need to purchase the council patch (Shawnee trails council), the blue fleur-de-lis(world scouting emblem), the pack numbers (1-0-1), and your den number (tigers, den 4, Wolfs, den 2, Bears, den 3, Webelos 1, den 1, and Webelos 2, den 5). Webelos scouts also need their colors.
4. Neckerchief and neckerchief slide for the appropriate den.
5. Belt and buckle for the appropriate den.

Here is a picture of how and where your patches can be ironed or sewn on.
