APRIL EVENTS...

At the March Pack Meeting, we handed out the boat kits for the Raingutter Regatta. If your scout needs a boat kit, please ask for one from your Den Leader. Please do so right away, because if we need to order more kits, I'll have to do that very soon.

In April, we will have our kite flying contest. The kites we make are all built by hand: NO STORE BOUGHT kites allowed. You can make your kites out of just about anything: newspaper, sticks, visqueen, foil paper, straws, dowel rods, mylar, you name it.

On Tuesday, April 8th, from 6-7pm, we will hold a kite building workshop at the UM Church basement. Please bring your materials and we will help you if you do not have a lot of experience making kites.

Here is a good website with lots of kite designs, some simple, some extremely complex:

The kite flying contest will also be our April Pack Meeting. We will hold the meeting on Saturday, April 19th, starting at 10 am. We will meet at the pavillion by Trout pond in Massac Park. After the contest, we will award prizes, and have a cookout. We should be done by noon or so.

Our rain date for the event is Sunday, April 20th, at 2 pm.

LEADERS: We will hold our next leader's meeting after the kite building workshop, on April 8th, at approximately 7 pm.

See you then,

Roger

Next Pack Meeting

Hello, Cub Scouts and parents of Pack 101. Our next Pack Meeting will be held on March 25th, the fourth Tuesday of the Month, at 7 pm in the basement of the Methodist Church. At that meeting, any advancements you have earned will be awarded, and we will be giving out the boat kits for the raingutter regatta we will hold in May. Our next big event will be a kite flying contest in April. We will hold a kite building workshop, probably sometime during the first week or two of April.

In January, the Tigers won the Edible Snowman contest, and won a pizza party. They had their pizza party last week, and I understand that they had a great time at a well-attended meeting. I hope to see all the scouts there at the Pack meeting this month.

See you then,

Roger

The Next Events...

Everyone,

the Blue and Gold Banquet was wonderful. We had between 80 and 100 people in attendance, and were privileged to watch Jacob Jones and Kobe Blye bridge over from Cub Scouts to Boy Scouts. Also, this event marked the last time that Faith Jones performed her duties as a Cub Scout Leader. Her hard work and dedication will be missed. Thank you, Faith!

I have a couple of announcements for scouts, leaders and parents. First, leaders, we will have our leader's meeting next Tuesday, which is March 11th.

Scouts, we will be preparing for the kite flying contest and the raingutter regatta coming up in April and May. March is a month in which you will work hard with your leaders to complete your badges, or complete other electives or belt loops you want. At the March pack meeting, you will receive your rain gutter regatta kits.

Again, thank you all for making our Blue and Gold Banquet a success, and get ready for a couple more great events to finish our year in scouting.

I have some photos coming from the banquet. As soon as I get them, I will post them here.

Roger
