The 2009 Supertrip

Cub Scout Pack 101 Day Trip Caravan To The Parthenon and the Adventure Science Center in Nashville, TN Saturday, July 25th, 2009

Our daytrip this year will be like last year’s trip. Instead of having to require formal permits, get physicals from all scouts, etc., we will require any scouts who attend to be accompanied by a parent or guardian. This way, our trip simply will be a group of parents attending with their sons, and each of you will have responsibility for your own families. Instead of renting vehicles, (very costly) and paying a lot for gas (more costly), we have decided to caravan to Nashville, TN, and spend a day at the Parthenon and the Adventure Science Center. Pack 101 will pay for tickets and attractions for one scout and one parent or guardian per scout. We encourage you to bring your whole family, as the entire day will be filled with great things to do for kids of all ages. However, you would be responsible for the costs for other family members. Scouts should wear their uniforms to make it easy to identify the members of Pack 101.

On the morning of July 25th, 6:15 a.m., we will meet at the United Methodist Church parking lot. From there, we will caravan to Nashville, TN. Parents, you should be prepared to drive your family, or talk with other families who are attending in advance, to find a vehicle to ride in. For example, I will be driving, and even if my whole family attends, I should be able to take one or two more people with me. The itinerary for the trip is included with this form. It is important to note, that since you are responsible for you and your scout, you can join or leave the day’s events at any time. However, I hope you plan to spend the day with us!

On the way home, Pack 101 will pay for dinner at a typical fast food restaurant (think McDonalds). We will pay for a happy meal for the kids, and your dinner choice. If you want extras, like a shake or sundae, or more than a typical meal choice, please take care of that on your own.

I have recently mailed the RSVP with lunch and dinner choices. Please fill out and return ASAP! to me. You can drop off your form at my house (113 Lindsey Avenue, Metropolis) or email your answers to me (pugh@shawneelink.net). But, it is important to do this as soon as possible, so that we can plan our menus, budget our funds for tickets and fees, and prepare the venues we will go to for the number of people who are attending.

We will leave the Methodist Church parking lot promptly by 6:30 a.m. Please make sure that before we leave, I have a cell phone number for each driver. Also, once we are at the locations in Nashville, please make every effort to stay with our group, so that any group discounts we might secure can be easily distributed to everyone who attends. If we consolidate and carpool, Pack 101 might be able to help each driver with the cost of gas for the trip, but we can’t promise that as of yet.
