It is with sadness that I must write that Joe Ogle, synonymous with scouting in Metropolis, the person who was responsible for the creation of this Pack, died on Saturday. His visitation will be held at the Acken Funeral Home in Metropolis, on Tuesday. The visitation starts at 5. Cub Scout Pack 101 will have a nice memorial bouquet at the funeral home. On the accompanying note, I asked that it be from all former and current scouts of Pack 101.
If you can make his visitation, your scout is encouraged to wear his uniform. Scouting was a huge part of Joe's life, and I know his family would be touched to see how many people Joe impacted through scouting.
The funeral will be held at the Methodist Church at 11 am on Wednesday.

Welcome to the Metropolis Illinois' Cub Scout Pack 101 website and blog. This blog will maintain a regular calendar of events, link pictures and provide other important information to the scouts and parents of Pack 101. I encourage you to communicate back and forth to me and other members of Pack 101 with any questions you might have through the blog.

Kite Flying Contest This SATURDAY!!!
Here are the pictures from the March Pack Meeting. We had so many boys earn their badges. It was a terrific meeting.
Yesterday, we had our kite building workshop in the basement of the Methodist Church. It was well-attended, but I had to leave before I saw any kites finished. I want to thank the leaders and parents who were there.
This Saturday, April 18th, we will have our kite flying contest! We will meet at the pavilion by Trout Pond at Massac Park at 10 am. If the weather cooperates, it should be a great day. I might suggest the boys wear some boots or shoes you won't mind them getting dirty, because I don't yet know how wet the field will be. After the contest, we will award prizes, and have a cold cut lunch with chips, soda and cookies for everyone there. I hope everyone can make it!
